Walking Together with Courage...
As part of National Reconciliation Week this year, Ruyton girls were invited to make friendship bracelets in the colours of the Aboriginal flag - as a symbol of 'the theme for this year's Reconciliation Week 'Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage'.
Junior School girls enjoyed joining their Senior School peers to create the bracelets during lunchtimes in Reconciliation Week.
The girls listened to Indigenous music and sat around the 'camp fire' in the Library telling stories and listening to Story Box Library whilst helping each other braid and tie the bands.
If you see one of these friendship bracelets around a girls' wrist or on her bag, perhaps you can ask her what Reconciliation means to her or what 'Walking Together with Courage' might represent to Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people.
