However
big or small your dream is, you've got to keep it. You never give it away
because one day, miraculously, that dream might come true. When I was young I
had a dream to be an author. And now, here I am in Australia in this Reading
Matters Conference, speaking to you." Sally Gardner
On the Thursday
28 May we were very fortunate to attend the 2015 Reading Matters Conference
held in the Victorian State Library. There were many fascinating authors presenting
on that day, but we were particularly intrigued by the compelling stories of
Sally Gardner, Jaclyn Moriarty and Abe Nouk. Today, Sally Gardner is a
beloved bestselling author but how she got to be such an author really inspired
all of us. Sally was and is still dyslexic. She was told at school that she was
‘unteachable’. In fact, she was unable to read until the age of 14, however she
is a world-class author who likes to joke about.
